Current Sky

In today’s edition of Planet Waves weekly audio, I look at the Venus-Mars conjunction in Scorpio, explore the Moon on the Galactic Center, and look at the chart of Christine O’Donnell, the Republican candidate for Senate who believes that masturbation is against god’s plan. We’ve linked to the video on our audio widget, and you can find her chart (set for noon) there as well.

I’ve also added a 15 minute propaganda audio — about why Planet Waves Astrology News is the perfect tool for astrology students. This is a subject dear to my heart, though I’ve barely mentioned it in the past. Writing Planet Waves, I continually teach astrology and a world view that integrates personal experience, current events and the growth opportunities we have. It is astrology in real life, not in the abstract, not in theory. I give plenty of theory to clarify my ideas, but the idea is to present immediate, relevant interpretations.

Sept. 11, Meet Pluto in Capricorn…

New York, Tuesday, September 14, 2010 by amanda

Just in case you missed it this weekend, I’m posting the link to some great discussion on the fall of World Trade Center Building 7 on the Planet Waves blog. It’s part of the Sept. 11, 2001 story that doesn’t get as much attention as the twin towers’ collapse. But as Eric discusses, the chart for Building 7′s collapse shows why it should — and why it’s so important this year. As Eric mentions in one of the comments to the original post, “I think that 11th house Capricorn is impressive. I didn’t see that much Cap in the original chart for 8:46 am. Now it’s more obvious. It’s also more obvious that the Cap stellium is going to be taking a lot of transits from Pluto the next couple of years.”

With Pluto stationing direct in Capricorn early this morning (the subject of today’s issue of Astrology News) this is some astrology worth considering. I have included the chart from the original post below.

A New Moon Dressed to the Nines

New York, Thursday, September 9, 2010 by amanda

Hello Cosmic Confidential Visitor! We just had a New Moon in Virgo so I checked for any significant archived horoscopes and came up with this one. What do you think, Virgo? How has your relationship to your past changed in the last 11 years? In case you’re wondering how you can get access to the horoscope archives to investigate on your own, it comes with every subscription to Planet Waves Astrology News and Planet Waves Light.

Sept. 10, 1999 – Virgo – Weekly

The New Moon in your birth sign on 9-9-99 has to be telling you something. But more than what this beautiful synchronicity is saying, I am more interested in what you are asking. The Nines represent the brink of change or completion. Yet astrology is far better at raising questions than it is at providing answers. The biggest question I see is, if you could change your relationship to your entire past, what would you create? This may involve a revisioning of history, a re-use of the lessons you learned in your family, or, most likely, tapping into cultural and genetic resources that are far deeper than any parent, grandparent or great-grandparent ever hinted might be yours.

The weekly audio is done and posted. This edition covers today’s Virgo New Moon, which is being attended by some asteroids whizzing by; Mercury stationing direct; and a look at the Sept. 11 chart.

For those interested in the Sept. 11 issue, here are some previous articles on the topic. One is called Sept. 11, 1984, a reference to George Orwell’s novel. This is perhaps the easiest approach to the topic.

Here is a look at the chart two years after the event.

And here is my first article — called Mercury Also Rises — published in September 2001.

We have also created a Sept. 11 resources area.

Back to the Land to Learn the Skies

New York, Tuesday, September 7, 2010 by amanda

Good afternoon Cosmic Confidential Diary readers!

Today’s investigation into the archives has been a bit more thwarted than most, but I think I finally found an old post with a bit of timeliness. Part of the mission of Planet Waves/Cosmic Confidential is to teach astrology rather than simply make mystic pronouncements from on high. We really value a hands-on, centered-in-the-body, aware-of-nature approach (Len Wallick, over on the Planet Waves blog, has been doing a fine job of getting us to look at the skies and embody the planets).

Given that the Sun is currently in Virgo (an earth sign), tomorrow is the New Moon in the same, and we’re coming up on the Libra equinox (an important marker in our yearly cycle, as we change seasons), I thought this old article on learning astrology through Earth-centered practices would be a good choice for today. It’s from Astrology Secrets revealed. Eric writes toward the end of the piece:

Building a direct relationship with the Earth and its elements, and living astrology through ritual and experience of aspects, makes it a lot easier to experience ‘symbols’ as intelligent entities who provide the actual source of information or, at least, grounding, when we are working on a chart or reading a spread. It takes astrology out of the abstract and helps us to live and breathe it as a natural and fully integrated part of life. This includes experiencing and marking in time the passage of the seasons, the high sabbats at the Cross Quarter days, and the phases of the Moon.

In a time when we live more and more of our lives ‘virtually,’ it can take extra effort to get back in to sync with natural rhythms — from the long-term cycles of seasons to the shorter cycles of tides and sunrise/sunset. But from what this investigator can tell, the sense of grounding and connection are well worth it; and we can start simply.

Just Keep Moving…

We’re about halfway through the current Mercury retrograde in Virgo, which I thought was going relatively smoothly until yesterday when all hell broke loose. Just in case it’s been a bumpy ride for you, too, here’s a little reassurance from 2009 about the often-confounding process The Winged One can present to us. And in case you’re wondering how you can get access to the horoscope archives, it comes with every subscription to Planet Waves Astrology News and Planet Waves Light.

Oct. 09, 2009 – Gemini – Weekly

Mercury is about to become free of its retrograde in Virgo, a transit that has made progress seem like a thing of the past. The process has certainly given you plenty to meditate on, and you may be wondering if you’re any better for having gone through so much mental and emotional introspection. I suggest that you not try to make up your mind about this right now; try to avoid judging anything at all. Simply move forward and see where you end up in a few weeks. For a while you’ll still be covering what seems like old territory, doing some things over and rethinking history yet again. You’ll notice the difference vividly when you arrive in new territory, and that’s the time to keep your focus on what is new and what you’re creating.
